Somewhat dated, but I'm intrigued by the discussions relating to a DLF ILS Discovery Task Force document on essential functions for discovery systems. Much of the discussion related to Innovative Interfaces' decision to abstain from undersigning the document or proposal. Betsy Graham described III's reasoning in a separate post.
The DLF document notes that "participants agreed to support a set of essential functions through open protocols and technologies by deploying specific recommended standards."
