new Summit is online...

The new Summit system is online and supporting requests from WSU users and from users throughout the Orbis Cascade Alliance.

Some of the features of this discovery system:

· Maintaining the returnable requesting support that was supported in the previous (INNReach) Summit system.
· Spell-check (Did you mean?) support.
· Retrieval of article records from Summit discovery system; indexes include ArticleFirst, British Library Serials, PubMed/MEDLINE, and ERIC; linking to these records to institutional electronic resources through an OpenURL resolver.
· Display of post-search filters, or facets, on results screens; these facets include: author, format, publication date, language, and topic.
· Media type icons displayed on results screens (including book, large-print book, article, DVD video, VHS video, along with other types).
· Improved relevancy ranking of search results, by locations (available at Summit libraries, available globally) and by a proprietary relevancy algorithm created and maintained by OCLC.
· Book jackets displayed in many records
· Support for user-created lists and tags
· Support for book reviews, both reviews written by users and submitted to the WorldCat.org platform and reviews from the Amazon system.
· Ability to customize and extend the catalog, through a published API, which provides the information that developers need to customize the catalog’s display.

It's truly a leap forward for the Alliance and the students, faculty, and other users at its member libraries.
