connected at the Disneyland Hotel

Not. Believe it or not, there's poor wireless connectivity in this Eisenhower-era compound. Having made it thru this traffic jam yesterday, I'm attending a preconference at the hotel on data grid technologies.

Attending Robert McDonald's presentation on data grids and digital preservation. I got a lot out of this all-day preconference. What stood out is the need to collaborate on the creation of multi-institutional grid systems, and the need to build scalable hardware/software systems for these kinds of data grids.

One point that I'm interested in, based upon my institution's investment in a DSpace-based repository service, WSU Research Exchange, is that DSpace has been successfully used as a front end (by NARA) for an SRB data grid.
